I just can’t understand why they would kill him off so quickly. Thane took a long time to design, model, and write for. They made a point in complaining about how he had to appeal to women, and how many times they had to redo his design to allow for that. Why, Bioware? Do you just hate females? How many vaginas have wronged you?

To saxyjep: I think they must hate women or something (ok maybe not really) but just look at how many LIs there are for men, and how many LIs there were available for straight women in ME3? ONE. Just Kaidan, if you didn’t kill him on Virmire. I just don’t understand it.
They admitted they “dropped the ball” on Thane, but REALLY? I mean, he was on the damn cover of ME2, and they spent MONTHS teasing us fans online with “hanar cure” news and other random stories, how they supported the Save Thane thing on Facebook, and the way they featured hanaraad’s poster we all worked on (hundreds of us) of Shepards who wanted a cure for him. Why? Was it for a purpose or just to jerk us around?
Thane, and really all the LIs from ME2 were SCREWED over. Just another reason that it wasn’t just the ending that made ME3 horrible. And I don’t consider it canon.
Thane will always be alive in my Shep’s universe, because that’s how it was meant to be.
